who we are
We are a non-profit organization, under IRC Section 501(c)(3), located in New Jersey, USA. This foundation was founded to celebrate the legacy and values of Christopher Widjaja.
our mission
Our objective is to celebrate the life and continue the legacy of Christopher Widjaja. Christopher was a bright young boy, full of life and inspiration to all those surrounding him. He was loved by every one whose lives were fortunate enough to be touched by him. He was a very religious boy and let Christian values drove his ways of life. Among many things he accomplished in his short life, he became the top student in his class and a very accomplished pianist. In short, he was a dream come true for both his parents.
On July 4, 2015, he was taken away from us without any warning. The day before, he experienced 1-day of discomfort and mild fever which was initially attributed to common cold symtoms. Eventually we learned that the cause of his death was an inflammation of his heart from flu virus, or myocarditis.
Therefore, another mission of this Foundation is to raise awareness of myocarditis.
Myocarditis is the inflammation and damage of the heart. According to the Myocarditis Foundation, the disease afflicts potentially 5 to 20% of all cases of sudden death in young adults. Causes of myocarditis are varied, and chronic heart failure is a major long term complication.
Myocarditis has been identified as one of the most common side effects of COVID-19 infections in youth. Some even detected myocarditis after vaccinations against COVID-19.
For additional information about the disease and the foundation, visit the Myocarditis Foundation website.
